The department of reservoir engineering is one of major departments in the School of Petroleum Engineering of our unviersity. The research centers subsidary to this department include "211" complicated reservoir simulation lab, and SINOPEC EOR research institute. The department has 37 faculty members, among them 15 are professors, 10 are associate professors. One professor is seleced as a National New Century Talent, one is seleced a Mountain Tai Scholar. The department can offer 33 curricula for undergraduate, postgraduate, and international students, which include physical properties of reserivoir, mechanics of flow through porous media, reservoir engineering, reservoir numeric simulation, etc.

　　The main research areas focus on the study of efficient exploitation of oil and gas resources. In the past five years, more than 200 projects of various level, such as "863", "973" and state key projects, have been undertaken. Three projects won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress, 80 projects won the prizes of provincial level. 24 books and more than 300 academic papers have been published. The department is in possession of 7 patents. Some research findings take the lead internaitonally in the field of oil and gas flow through porous media, petrophysics, and oil field development technology.

　　The department of reservoir engineering is always attaching the great importance on international cooperation and exchange. Academic ties and cooperation have been established with universities or institutes of USA, Canada, Australia, and England, etc. High level conferences are regularly attended by our teachers. Over one-third of our faculty members have oversea or visiting scholar experience. Some famous experts are employed by our department as the adjunct professors.
